Hope and healing are within reach.
I companion men who are seeking freedom from problematic sexual and addictive behaviors.
Wholistic Healing
Healing from problematic behaviors and a life of addiction, secrets and deception is possible when approached wholistically. I approach recovery and healing from a Christian perspective while also placing a high value on psychology, neurobiology, spiritual and therapeutic practices along with proven behaviors that integrate the mind, body, and soul.
About Matthew
I’m continuing to live out my own recovery journey of experiencing freedom from problematic sexual behavior.
I’ve been married for 18 years and have two children, ages 6 and 8.
I enjoy running, building furniture, spending time with my family, baking bread, beach outings, playing music, and stand up comedy (enjoying, not performing).
I am a certified Pastoral Sex Addiction Professional (PSAP) thru iiTAP, hold an MDIV from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and serve on the team of Leadership Transformations.
Here are some of the areas I work in:
Compulsive sexual behaviors
Addiction (sexual, substance, internet, love, etc)
Creating and implementing personalized recovery plans
Spiritual formation coaching
Wholistic healing and integration (body, mind, soul)
I understand addiction, and I understand freedom.
I never imagined I’d be able to get sober, stay sober and live in long-term freedom. Yet after minimizing my addiction for nearly 3 decades, I came to the end of myself and sought out help. It is a great honor to come alongside men in the way that others have come alongside me. The Recovery Coaching I offer focuses on these these principles:
A commitment to reality: Radical ownership about where you are is the first step in healing. I’ll help you learn to live in the light as you (perhaps for the first time) embrace a life of honesty and truth-telling.
Ownership of the past: A large part of your future is being able to own your past. We’ll work together to break free from years of diminishing, minimizing, deceiving and hiding in self-protection and self-preservation.
A safe place to heal: I offer a judgement-free environment to process your story, your history of unwanted behaviors, past trauma, and the pain you carry.
A way forward: Establishing and maintaining sobriety is just the beginning. I’ll help you create a personalized plan that moves you beyond sobriety and toward a flourishing, recovered life.
A vision for the future: Addiction is an intimacy disorder. I’ll help you pursue healthy emotional and spiritual connections in the relationships that matter most in your life. In addition to that, we’ll dream together about what it looks like for you to stay sober and live free in the environments where you live, work, and play.
“Hope can sometimes be an elusive thing, and occasionally it must come to us with pain. But it is there, irrevocably. Like freedom, hope is a child of grace, and grace cannot be stopped.”
